How to Reduce Acid Reflux
1. Avoid the following foods, which are likely causes of heartburn:
a. Caffeine – particularly coffee, strong tea, and cola beverages
b. Citrus Fruits – orange, grapefruit, lemon, and line
c. Tomato – in any form
d. Fatty Foods (including fried foods); fatty meats such as bologna, salami, and regular hamburger; potato chips,
peanuts, ice cream; and rich desserts
2. Avoid other trigger foods, including:
a. Alcohol
b. Peppermint
c. Chocolate
d. Spicy Foods
3. Wait at least 2 hours after eating before lying down; a bedtime snack may not go down well.
4. Try eating smaller meals.
a. Plan to snack midmorning or midafternoon if you are hungry.
5. Drink most fluids between meals.
6. You may need to limit your intake of gas-forming foods such as:
a. Broccoli
b. Brussels Sprouts
c. Cabbage
d. Cauliflower
e. Corn
