Replacing Old Habits
The #1 reason people report gaining weight after losing it is "I slipped back into my old habits." In order to change a habit, it is important to not only be aware of it so you can stop the bad habit, it is also important to conditin in a new "Healthy" one.
Exercise: First list the "old habits" that you might be at risk of slipping back into. Then write down the first time you can remember that behavior starting. Finally list a new healthy habit you will replace the old one with.
Common bad habits: eating too much, too fast, standing up, skipping meals, not drinking water, drinking soda or high sugar drinks, cravings for certain foods (sweets-sugar or carbs, high-fat, salty), snacking, emotional eating (boredom, stress, depression), excessive alcohol
Common healthy habits: eating 5-6 times per dday, drinking water with each meal, switch from coffee and soda to black, green or herb tea, eat not until full but until no longer hungry, if bored go for a walk, read a book, do something you love...instead of reaching for food.
