Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
If you have experienced an injury or have inflammation, tendinitis or muscle pain, PRP Therapy may be able to speed up your healing process and offer you some much needed relief. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a relatively new medical treatment based on the premise that certain growth factors found in Platelet Rich Plasma can help people, especially athletes, heal from their injuries more quickly.
PRP works similarly to Prolotherapy, but instead of injecting a concentrated dextrose solution, we draw your own blood which is then centrifuged to separate out the platelets, growth factors and a small amount of white blood cells and stem cells. The solution is then injected into the target tissue to provide the concentrated cells and growth factors directly to the sites of degeneration. The growth factors and healing cells help promote regeneration/healing of chronic injuries, sports injuries, or other natural degenerative processes.
Treatments are generally spaced at least 6-8 weeks apart, allowing for proper healing cascade to take effect. Average number of treatments is 2-3; however, some patients require more treatments depending on their individual concerns. Typically more severe, chronic issues will require a greater number of treatments. Some personal factors that may inhibit maximum healing include smoking, poor nutrition, diabetes and other immune suppressing conditions.
Prolotherapy solution and techniques are also utilized as an adjunct with PRP treatments to further stimulate the body’s healing in the structures around the treatment area.
Ultrasound-Guided
We utilize state-of-the-art musculoskeletal ultrasound technology for accurate evaluation and treatment of orthopedic conditions.
Please note that Stem Cell Therapy and/or Platelet Rich Plasma therapy are regenerative processes that take time to occur. The regenerative activity usually requires 3-6 months, but improvement may be noted before then.
Although the Stem Cell Therapy is very safe and minimally invasive, every patient needs to be specifically evaluated for treatment.
