What are Stem Cells?
Adult stem cells are found in many tissues. Their primary role is to maintain and repair the tissue in which they are found. Adult stem cells are multi-potent, meaning they can differentiate into a subset of cell types, exhibiting a process called Plasticity. This is the ability of one type of stem cell to turn into a different type stem cell. For example, a stem cell extracted from one's own bone marrow can convert to one which produces cartilage or skin tissue. Thus, we are now able to use one's own stem cells to create living and functional tissues to help regenerate and repair various tissues in the body that have been damaged due to injury, age, disease or congenital defects.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Along with Stem Cell therapy, we also incorporate the use of platelet rich plasma(PRP), along with MSCs, to dramatically increase the number and function of the stem cells for treating joints and other specific orthopedic conditions. Particularly useful in areas which have a naturally low blood supply (e.g., cartilage, tendons, ligaments), platelets sense the injury and then release growth factor, which signals the body to send in various types of stem cells to repair the injured area.

Please note that Stem Cell Therapy and/or Platelet Rich Plasma therapy are regenerative processes that take time to occur. The regenerative activity usually requires 3-6 months, but improvement may be noted before then.
